Ireland South Coast

Driving north into the town of New Ross we saw the signs to the old 3-master Dunbrody Emigrant Ship which was on display. It is a reproduction of an 1840s emigrant vessel known as the Dunbrody Famine Ship. This was the time that potato crops were failing and food prices were soaring. Over a million Irish left their homes for an uncertain future abroad, some to Australia but mostly to North America. The Kennedy Family are notable examples of very successful Irish Americans.
